Commemoration du Genocost 2024 a Kinshasa place du Genocost

On 2nd August 2024, the world came together to mark a significant event organised by the Congolese Action Youth Platform (CAYP) in collaboration with the civil society and grassroots activists around the world to remember the victims of the Congolese genocide for economic gain. This initiative, known as GENOCOST, took place simultaneously in 26 cities across the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and numerous other cities worldwide, including Atlanta, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Lyon, Martinique, Nairobi, Ouagadougou, Sao Paulo, and Stockholm. The commemoration aimed to honour those who lost their lives in recent atrocities and to raise global awareness of the horrific crimes committed for economic exploitation in the DRC.

Campagne organisé par la Plateforme Jeunesse Action Congolaise (CAYP) en collaboration avec des organisations de la société civile

Le 2 août de chaque année, vous êtes invités à rejoindre la communauté congolaise du monde entier pour participer à la journée de commemoration du génocide congolais. Cet événement annuel est un simple geste pour rendre hommage aux vies de tous ceux que nous avons perdus dans la longue histoire des conflits du Congo. Ce vendredi 2 août, l’événement sera organisé dans 26 villes à travers le monde sur quatre continents (Afrique, Europe, Amérique du Nord et Amérique du Sud) ainsi qu’en ligne. Cette année, l’événement est organisé sous le thème “Justice et Dignité”. Que vous nous rejoigniez en personne ou que vous participiez en ligne, votre voix est cruciale. In 2013, the Congolese Youth Platform (CAYP) based in London challenged the legal framework of ‘genocide.’ Moved by the ongoing lack of democracy and justice, they created GENOCOST—a cry for justice against genocide for economic gain in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 1885.

This year, as we commemorate the 11th anniversary, join us in honouring the victims on August 2nd. Through this video, we are raising global consciousness. Stand with us in solidarity as we demand accountability and ensure that Congolese voices—our voices—are heard. Together, let’s ensure that the voices of our victims are never forgotten.

The Congolese Action Youth Platform (CAYP) is a self-funded community group dedicated to advocating for the recognition of the Genocide in the Democratic Republic of Congo under the campaign #Genocost. Additionally, we support and promote cultural events and initiatives within the Congolese community.

Christmas with Homeless Children: A Glimmer of Hope

Kinshasa, DRC – On December 25, the CAYP RDC team joined forces with Cris des Mères and CATSR to offer a moment of joy to the street children of the Likemo Center in Kinshasa.

Thanks to successful fundraising, these children were able to enjoy a Christmas meal and participate in various entertainment activities, such as music, dance and Capoeira. Our volunteers also shared words of encouragement to remind these children that they are not alone.

Noël avec les Enfants des Rues : Une Lueur d’Espoir

Kinshasa, RDC – Le 25 Décembre dernier, l’équipe de CAYP RDC a uni ses forces avec Cris des Mères et CATSR pour offrir un moment de joie aux enfants des rues du Centre Likemo à Kinshasa.

Grâce à une collecte de fonds réussie, ces enfants ont pu savourer un repas de Noël et participer à diverses activités de divertissement, telles que la musique, la danse et la Capoeira. Nos bénévoles ont également partagé des mots d’encouragement pour rappeler à ces enfants qu’ils ne sont pas seuls.

This marks a milestone in the ten years of a campaign of the Congolese Action Youth Platform (CAYP), which initiated the Genocost campaign in London in 2011 and worked tirelessly for the recognition of the genocides and crimes against humanity perpetrated against the people of DR Congo for economic gain called the Genocost.  A contraction between genocide and cost referring to the crimes committed in the country for economic gain.
